Ao Sen” means “Lotus Pond” in Vietnamese – a symbol of strength and enlightenment. Just as a lotus blooms from muddy waters, our family’s story blossomed from one of the most challenging times in Vietnamese history.
Our family immigrated to America during the Vietnam War and brought the rich culinary traditions of South Vietnam with them along with a dream of sharing these classic flavors with our new community. We opened Phở Ao Sen to serve the exact foods our family grew up enjoying – the comforting soups, the fresh herbs, and the traditional recipes passed down through generations.
Since 2001, we have served the Bay Area with the freshest ingredients and a commitment to quality. Like many of you, the restaurant have experienced challenges and understand difficult economic times. While we have had to raise our prices we’re committed to the belief that everyone should be able to enjoy our food. We kept the price of our best-selling item, phở and all soup options as low as possible.
Today, every bowl of phở, every dish we prepare, comes from Ao Sen, from us to you. We are completely family owned and operated, and each bowl of soup is simmered for 24 hours. Each recipe, carefully preserved and perfected over decades, tells the story of our family’s journey and our commitment to authenticity.
